Homeware
Because people sometimes ask me where I get my cute kitchenware from, thought I’d share the places I frequent to score my special finds.
UNITED KINGDOM
I could live in this shop and in fact, I’ve bought nearly damn everything possible (maybe not the clothes, the bedding or the baby stuff). They do very lovely aprons, oven mitts, mugs, teapots and dessert plates.
Besides an eclectic mix of vintage clothing, shoes and coffee table books, UO is great for finding conversation pieces for the kitchen. I found pink and red heart-shaped measuring cups and some fancy barware there. Score!
Octopus
54 Neal Street
London
WC2H 9PA
There a few of them ‘octopuses’ (‘octopi’ is incorrect, fact of the day) about I believe. One on Carnaby Street and I heard another’s opened in Brighton. Anyway, want funky, colourful, psychedelic and outrageously bedazzling ice cream scoops, toasters and cake servers, etc. to brighten up the kitchen? Go to Octopus! Holy macaroonees, it will add spice and more to your kitchen life.
CANADA
If you love taking little lunches with you wherever you go, or are really into presentation and giftwrapping, Furochic by Jenn Playford is for you. I do not, as yet, own any of her furoshikis but am hoping to order one as soon as possible. Her designs are gorgeous and I can’t wait to get my hands on one of them for little bento boxes or baskets of muffins and cookies!
